In consolation games:
Capistrano Valley 4, Upland 2 -- Sophomore Kristin Timbers put the Cougars in front with a two-run double in the first inning.
Sonora 4, San Diego Scripps Ranch 3--Dawn Ramynke hit a single and a triple, each driving in a run for Sonora (16-4). Ramynke’s single in the third drove in the winning run for the Raiders.
In the Serra League:
Santa Margarita 5, Rosary 4 (8)--Santa Margarita’s Pam Sulick singled home Garland Cooper with one out in the bottom of the eighth to cap a late-inning comeback for the Eagles (11-7, 1-0). The Eagles trailed, 4-0, entering the sixth, when Colleen Bordages hit a two-run home run to cut the lead to 4-2.
Pinch-hitter Ashley O’Coin, called up from junior varsity and playing in only her second varsity game of the year, hit a two-run home run one inning later to tie the score, 4-4.
In nonleague softball:
Orange Lutheran 3-2, Garden Grove 0-0--Jessica Edwards struck out 14 for visiting Orange Lutheran (14-2-1) in the first game.
