Lancaster Scores Six in Ninth to Knock Off Bakersfield, 8-5

Scott Maynard hit a two-run home run with two out in the ninth inning to tie the score and Willie Bloomquist singled home the go-ahead run as the Lancaster JetHawks scored six runs to defeat the Bakersfield Blaze, 8-5, in a California League game Saturday night at Bakersfield.
Juan Silvestre hit a three-run homer to put the JetHawks (2-1) ahead, 8-4.
Carlos Valderrama hit a solo home run the bottom of the ninth for Bakersfield (1-2).
Peanut Williams had a leadoff home run for Lancaster in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the third.
Neil Longo (1-0) entered with one out in the sixth and held the Blaze hitless in 2 2/3 innings, striking out two and walking one.
Jeremy Luster had two hits, including a solo home run, for Bakersfield.
