The City Council will consider tonight whether to begin initial stages of leasing the land at 450 Glenneyre to a developer to build 20 low-income rental units.
The Irvine-based developer, the Related Cos. of California, was recommended by a city panel to submit conceptual plans.
The city has about 115 low-income housing units, but all are reserved for seniors or disabled people.
The 40-year-old commercial building on the 21,000-square-foot site will be demolished, pending city approval.
