Dick and Karen Bevers, active members of the Friends of the Yorba Linda Public Library, were proclaimed “Volunteers of the Century” by Rep. Ed Royce (R-Fullerton). The couple received a certificate of commendation for their service to the community.
Dick Bevers is president of the organization, and Karen Bevers volunteers at Book Corner, a bookstore at the library run by the group.
The group was formed in the 1970s to support the library’s activities. It now has 600 members.
The bookstore, which opened in 1990, operates six days a week with the help of volunteering members.
