Workshops Help Immigrants Get Taxpayer ID Numbers
- Share via
Workshops for immigrants on how to obtain taxpayer identification in lieu of a Social Security number will be conducted at Panorama Mall today and Sunday.
The Internal Revenue Service created the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number for those ineligible for a Social Security card, said Felipe Kofman, whose Pacoima business advises immigrants on taxes, banking and related matters.
The free program will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, but the application assistance fee is $20 a person, Kofman said.
Saturday’s workshops will be conducted in tandem with the Latino Business Expo at the mall, Kofman said. He also plans to give a workshop on how to obtain a California Sellers Permit, issued by the State Board of Equalization to individuals selling taxable items.
