Harry Belafonte, 73, might have become a passing novelty when he arrived as the King of Calypso in the ‘50s, but in the intervening years he has gone on to distinguish himself as a musician, actor and humanitarian. His most recent honor: an honorary degree from Fisk University in Nashville in May.

The Orange County Playwrights Alliance presents “Guises & Disguises,” three one-act plays exploring first impressions and identity. Opening is “Judith Christ,” by Johnna Adams, a play about a female evangelist who is challenged to raise a little girl from the dead. Next is Jim Harrison’s “What If Hitler Came Back As A Dog?,” about an innocent dachshund with mysterious capabilities. The show concludes with “Derailed,” by Dorothy Weston Stauch, about a conservative businesswoman who makes a project out of a homeless woman she meets on a train.
