John Stewart is best known for writing the Monkees’ hit “Daydream Believer,” but during the ‘60s and ‘70s the former Kingston Trio member produced a string of respected folk-rock solo albums. The San Diego-born musician managed one Billboard Top 10 pop hit, “Gold,” his 1979 duet with Stevie Nicks that got up to No. 5. He was a regular at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach in the ‘60s and ‘70s and makes a rare local appearance at Muldoon’s pub in Newport Beach.
* John Stewart, Muldoon’s, 202 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach. 2 p.m. Free. (949) 640-4110.
