The City Council is expected to decide tonight how to fill a council seat left vacant by newly elected Mayor Mark A. Murphy.
The council can appoint someone to complete the remaining two years of Murphy’s council term, or can hold a special election on Jan. 5 to fill the seat.
The council’s third option is to appoint someone to fill the seat until a special election. The council will meet at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall, 300 E. Chapman Ave.
