Throw the Book at Solomona

* Convicted murderer Peter Solomona is one of the Orange Countians who live in such fear in our society that they feel they must have a gun to protect themselves (“Solomona Convicted of Murder,” Dec. 20). Now, Solomona’s reckless actions with a .357 magnum have resulted in the death of Brandon Ketsdever, a 17-year-old--ruining the lives of two families, the Solomonas and the Ketsdevers.

The National Rifle Assn., whose aggressive actions keep this gun plague upon the unarmed Orange Countians, tells us that the gun problem can be solved if only gun laws were more strictly enforced. Yet we don’t hear it calling out for a stiff prison sentence for Solomona. We can only hope that the judge in the Solomona case throws the book at him.
