A good Samaritan who stopped to help a motorist suffered an electrical shock after another driver caused a power line to fall on him, Brea police said Sunday.
A pickup driven by Victor Manuel Herrera Jr. hit a power pole that then fell, partially blocking Lambert Road near State College Boulevard, said Lt. Billy Hutchinson.
A second vehicle then struck the pole support, causing the power line to land on top of Ernie Hernandez, 19, of San Bernardino, who had stopped to offer Herrera assistance, police said.
Hernandez was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Herrera was later arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and felony hit-and-run, Hutchinson said. The two people in the second vehicle were treated for minor injuries, according to police.
