Tax Cuts

Can we take a new mind-set? In “Brass Tacks on Tax Plans” (Jan. 12), it is reported that the George W. Bush tax plan “costs $483 billion over five years” and the John McCain tax plan “costs $237 billion over five years” and the Al Gore tax plan “costs $250 billion to $300 billion over 10 years.”
“Costs” whom? It surely doesn’t cost the taxpayers anything--for us it is a savings. But under the current mind-set in reporting I soon expect to see a tax increase reported as a cost saving. How about thinking about the taxpayers for a change?
