The city’s three-month search for a new city manager ended Friday with the council’s unanimous closed-session vote to offer the job to Tim O’Donnell, Brea’s longtime assistant city manager.
O’Donnell was one of five finalists chosen by the City Council, which had hired a recruiting firm to find candidates . In previous months, the council had been divided over whether to hire O’Donnell without looking at other candidates.
O’Donnell, interim city manager since late March, will replace Frank Benest, who took a job in Palo Alto after serving Brea for 11 years.
