Power Outage Hits Laguna Firms, Homes

LAGUNA BEACH — More than 1,900 businesses and homes along a three-mile stretch of Coast Highway were left without electricity early Monday because of a Southern California Edison equipment failure, a company spokesman said.
Power was restored to most businesses by noon, about 30 minutes after the failure.
Other Edison customers spent about three hours without power before the failed equipment was replaced.
At the popular Cottage Restaurant downtown, the lunchtime outage caused some inconveniences, owner Janet Dickson said.
“We tried to encourage people to have sandwiches, but some people were coming in for a hot lunch,” she said. “We had some walkouts.”
