BELL GARDENS — Twelve suspected gang members were arrested Thursday in a daylong sweep targeting 20 locations. Making the arrests were city police, along with probation and parole officers and a multi-agency county task force.
Officers seized three revolvers, a semiautomatic pistol and about five pounds of marijuana, said Bell Gardens Det. Tomas Rodriguez.
The suspects were being held on weapons and drug charges, Rodriguez said.
“We targeted six gangs in the city,” the detective said. “Recently, we’ve had numerous shootings. It happens pretty much every summer. The most recent fatal shooting was last month.”
