Vatican and Gays

How ironic that in this Jubilee Year 2000, a year of reconciliation, the Catholic Church will be “disappointed and annoyed” at the presence of a planned World (Gay) Pride Festival in Rome (June 3). So much for the Gospel message to “love one another as I have loved you.” If the Catholic Church cannot be reconciled with gays and lesbians as brothers and sisters, then it would seem that the church’s call for tolerance and unity among all is merely a “clanging gong and a booming cymbal.”
