West 20, East 6--Cory Allred of Rosamond High passed for two touchdowns and ran for another for the West in the fourth annual High Desert Coaches Assn. All-Star game at Palmdale High.
Allred, who was supposed to split time with Rob Fockaert of Paraclete, took over full-time duties when Fockaert separated his shoulder in practice last week.
Allred completed 12 of 21 passes for 183 yards, including touchdowns of nine yards to Jon King of Highland in the first quarter and 12 yards to Aaron Blundell of Rosamond in the third. Allred scrambled eight yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.
Allred, who led Rosamond to the Southern Section Division XII semifinals, had a 33-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Morris of Highland nullified because of a clipping penalty.
Morris caught three passes for 51 yards and Jeff Williams of Quartz Hill caught four passes for 86 yards for the West.
Linebacker Robert Watts of Paraclete was selected defensive player of the game after helping limit the East to 59 second-half yards and 262 overall.
Jerrick Holmes of Palmdale caught four passes for 96 yards for the East, including a 22-yard scoring pass from Mike Johnson of Palmdale that gave the East a 6-0 first-quarter lead.
Holmes, second in the state high jump last week, was selected offensive player of the game.
