A 25-year-old Canoga Park woman was killed when her car plunged into Long Beach Harbor, authorities said Monday.
Katrina Johnneva Vasquez drove off Queensway Drive into the water near the Queen Mary about 2:30 a.m., said Nancy Tabing, public information officer with the Long Beach Police Department.
Vasquez was in the water for about 15 minutes before being rescued by firefighters. Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at 4 a.m. at a nearby hospital, Tabing said.
“The detectives believe it was an accident,” she said. She said Vasquez was driving too fast and failed to negotiate two curves.
