* Unfortunately, Martin A. Lee is still unable to divorce himself from a strong Germanophobia as he has already displayed earlier in his book, “The Beast Reawakens.” His selective research of facts for his June 25 Opinion article appears as flawed.
In Europe, Germany has the most stringent and intolerant laws directed against the reawakening of Nazism, almost all introduced by the Kohl-led government. These laws were obviously supported and passed by the CDU, which Lee calls “a catch basin for an assortment of right-wing interest groups, including fascist elements that cling to the memory of the Third Reich.” It is doubtful that this “assortment” would pass laws against its own interests.
