The Dow and Nasdaq gyrations are not so mysterious and difficult to understand (“Blue Chips Propel Dow to Record 1-Day Gain,” March 17). Online traders and numerous speculators are buying and selling large amounts of key index stocks, causing dramatic fluctuations in the marketplace. Markets and prices no longer reflect sound financial facts and news but are being driven by greed and cunning.
