Capistrano Valley Comes Up Big in Finale

Capistrano Valley played as if a playoff spot were on the line, scoring a season-high six touchdowns and recording seven sacks in a 44-14 South Coast League victory over host Trabuco Hills Thursday.
But Dana Hills’ victory over El Toro gave the Dolphins’ third place, so the Cougars (3-7 overall, 2-3) could only take pleasure in the fact that they played their best overall game in their season finale.
Travis Becktel scored three touchdowns, on a 19-yard pass play from quarterback David Frazeur, a 55-yard run and a 49-yard kickoff return.
Trabuco Hills (2-8, 0-5) opened the scoring on their first offensive series, driving 76 yards in nine plays, capped by Greg Tenuta’s one-yard run. The Cougars would then run off 38 consecutive points.
Bryan Peters finished with 146 yards in only 16 carries. Ryan Maaskamp’s 25-yard interception return for a touchdown with 39 seconds left in the half made it 28-7.
Trabuco Hills’ Greg Tenuta rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns in 16 carries.
