PASADENA — Police booked the son of an imprisoned drug lord Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder after searching a neighborhood for him after a shooting incident, authorities said.
Elrader Ray Browning Jr., 20, was captured after he was found hiding in the crawl space underneath a house in the Allen Avenue area, police said. A police dog was used to flush Browning from his hiding place and he was bitten by the animal, said Pasadena Police Sgt. Tom Pederson.
The shooting incident occurred about 8:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Casa Grande Street, Pederson said. Browning is alleged to have fired several shots at another group of individuals.
Officers with weapons drawn and assisted by police dogs fanned out in the neighborhood, conducting a yard-to-yard search.
Browning is the son of Elrader “Ray Ray” Browning, who is serving two life terms in federal prison, he added. The younger Browning, known as “Lil Ray,” was also wanted on an outstanding murder warrant, Pederson said.
The 20-year-old is a suspect in an Aug. 31 slaying at a Palmdale apartment complex and the July 20 shooting of a rival gangster in Pasadena’s Villa Park, authorities said.
