LOS ANGELES — The Japanese American National Museum in Little Tokyo has received a $20 million federal grant to establish an educational center that will examine democracy, primarily through the experience of Japanese Americans, museum officials said Tuesday.
The grant, which comes from the Dept. of Defense and was approved Oct. 1, creates the National Center for Preservation of Democracy. A portion of the funds will be used to renovate one of the museum’s historic buildings, which will be used by the center.
