The presidential debates are over and--if they had any effect on this superclose race--they appear to have further boosted Republican George W. Bush over Democrat Al Gore in national polls. State polls, however, suggest that Bush’s lead in electoral votes is not as large as his perceived popular lead. In some electoral college predictions, Gore is ahead. Here is a sample of national polls released in the last week. Green Party candidate Ralph Nader typically draws 4% in these surveys, and Reform candidate Pat Buchanan’s support is about 1%.
