Top-Ranked Tritons Topple the Chargers

Despite some sloppy defensive play that led to a first-game loss, No. 1-ranked San Clemente bounced back for a South Coast League girls’ volleyball victory over El Toro, 13-15, 15-6, 15-5, 15-10, Tuesday at San Clemente.
Katy Daly had 25 kills, 17 digs and three blocks and Christina Vick had 13 kills, 21 digs and five blocks for San Clemente (11-0, 7-0 in league).
Katherine Varin had 21 kills for El Toro (9-4, 3-4).
In another South Coast League match:
No. 10 Capistrano Valley 3, Mission Viejo 0--Janell Miegot had 12 kills for Capistrano Valley (11-5, 5-2), which won, 15-12, 15-9, 15-3.
In the Century League:
Canyon 3, El Modena 2--Kim Mattis had 19 kills and Danielle Monroe had 14 for Canyon (10-3, 5-2), which won, 15-9, 4-15, 15-8, 14-16, 15-7.
Sela Moa had 21 kills for El Modena (8-5, 4-3).
In the Empire League:
Katella 3, Loara 2--Diane Vinh had 18 kills, Krista Stinson had 14 and Jillian Ross had 44 assists for visiting Katella (5-8, 3-4), which came from behind to win, 13-15, 7-15, 15-6, 15-9, 15-11.
Amanda Bowman had 12 kills for Loara (3-8, 0-7).
In the Garden Grove League:
Bolsa Grande 3, La Quinta 2--Michelle Day had 11 kills and 39 assists for Bolsa Grande (10-7, 5-4), which won, 16-14, 8-15, 5-15, 16-14, 15-11.
In the Orange League:
Western 3, Savanna 0--Rosa Barrera had 11 kills for host Western (8-5, 6-1), which won, 15-11, 15-5, 15-10.
In the Pacific Coast League:
No. 4 Laguna Beach 3, Estancia 0--Brittany Wood had 10 kills for visiting Laguna Beach (10-5, 6-1), which won, 15-3, 15-2, 15-4.
No. 8 Corona del Mar 3, Northwood 0--Lindsay Anstandig had 10 kills for Corona del Mar (9-7, 6-1), which won, 15-0, 15-9 15-2.
In the Sea View League:
No. 3 Irvine 3, Aliso Niguel 0--Olivia Waldowski had 16 kills and seven blocks for Irvine (11-1, 6-0), which won, 15-3, 15-7, 15-5.
No. 7 Newport Harbor 3, Laguna Hills 0--Lauren Bald had four aces and nine digs for the Sailors (10-6, 4-2), who won, 15-6, 15-8, 15-5.
In the Serra League:
No. 2 Mater Dei 3, Rosary 0--Mater Dei’s Bree Peterson had eight digs and four aces for the Monarchs (15-1, 4-0), who won, 15-3, 15-11, 15-12.
