Workers Overlooked
Your Sept. 4 editorial, “Labor’s Winning Ticket,” overlooked the fact that certain groups of Californians are not sharing in the general abundance of jobs. Unfortunately, discrimination on the basis of age and/or disability (real or perceived) is keeping many citizens in the unemployment lines. These people want to be producers, not parasites. They want work, not welfare. They do not want a handout, though they may need a hand. The minds of managers who see only an age or an illness instead of a human being with a valuable contribution to make deprive these people of their dignity and society of their talents.
