The City Council is preparing to discuss the issue of drug and alcohol treatment centers in residential neighborhoods at its Sept. 12 meeting.
The issue arose in response to protests this week by residents opposed to a new Witts Inn drug and alcohol treatment center on Elisa Drive near Dana Hills High School.
The facility may begin moving in residents next week.
The council will discuss what action the city can take in light of a federal housing law that prohibits housing discrimination against treatment centers.
City Atty. Michele Vadon is preparing a report for the meeting on Tuesday, said Ken MacLeod, city director of finance and administration.
