Construction to Close Lanes in LAX Tunnel

LOS ANGELES — Construction work will close lanes on the Sepulveda Boulevard tunnel under Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday, and will lead to the full closure of the tunnel for five hours overnight beginning Sept. 17.
Two lanes of the six-lane tunnel, which runs between Imperial Highway and Century Boulevard, will close at midnight tonight and reopen at midnight Saturday.
From Sept. 17 through Oct. 26, all lanes of the tunnel will be closed between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m.
Sepulveda Boulevard and Century Freeway traffic will detour onto Imperial Highway, Century Boulevard and Aviation Boulevard. Signs on freeways and major streets will direct drivers during the closure.
Construction crews will be lengthening the tunnel’s north end to provide more room for airport taxiways atop the tunnel.
