The Planning Commission recommended Wednesday that the City Council extend the deadline for businesses to comply with the sign ordinance to December 2001. The original deadline passed last month.
Most of the 68 signs that don’t conform to the ordinance are on poles or rooftops, which is prohibited.
In June, the council directed city staff to review the sign ordinance and come back with proposed changes.
At next Tuesday’s meeting, the council will consider the formation of a nine-member ad-hoc committee to review the sign code.
