Trade Gives Albuquerque an All-Star

The Dodgers may have gotten a little something extra for Wilton Guerrero.

The seven-player deal with Montreal netted the Dodgers Carlos Perez, who has bombed as a starter and is out for the season with a shoulder injury requiring surgery, and second baseman Mark Grudzielanek, who hits pretty well, but the only range he has is in his kitchen.

They also got Hiram Bocachica. The 24-year-old second baseman was named to the postseason Pacific Coast League all-star team.

Bocachica, a first-round pick by the Expos in 1994, hit .322 for triple-A Albuquerque this season. He had 23 home runs, drove in 84 runs and scored 99.

Pitcher Maximo Regalado handled the jump from Vero Beach, a low Class-A team, to double-A San Antonio. He finished 1-2 with a 2.09 earned-run average and nine saves. He had 30 saves in 56 games combined.

First baseman Chris Donnels, who was called up by the Dodgers last month, led the Pacific Coast League with a .660 slugging percentage. He was ninth with a .328 batting average.
