Will Savage of El Camino Real, who broke his collarbone and will be out at least a month, was not the only baseball-playing quarterback to sustain a serious injury Friday night.
Aaron Garcia of Moorpark separated his right (throwing) shoulder in the Musketeers’ 26-21 loss to Nordhoff. Garcia, a junior who batted .321 last spring, will miss the rest of the season, according to his father, Hector.
In 1996, Garcia was a star on the Moorpark Little League team that advanced to the World Series in Williamsport, Pa. Hector was the manager.
Moorpark might still be in good hands, however. Matt Broussard, a 6-2 junior transfer from San Antonio, will replace Garcia. Broussard rallied the Muskeeteers to two late touchdowns and completed nine of 13 passes for 134 yards.
