SEASON AT A GLANCE: Stein opened her season with a victory in the Division I race of the Woodbridge Invitational in Irvine on Saturday. Her time of 17:17 over the three-mile course was the second fastest of the meet and her fastest time ever on any course.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Stein, who ran a career best of 10:51.44 to place eighth in the 3,200 meters in the state track and field championships in June, defeated Elizabeth Pasciuto of Murrieta Valley by 14 seconds in hot and humid conditions at Woodbridge. “I wasn’t expecting a fast time because it’s so early in the season,” Coach Gary Smith said. “But she just popped it.”
