SEASON AT A GLANCE: Barfield, a fast, mobile quarterback, replaced the graduated Eddie Whitaker and has led Cleveland (2-0) to victories over Palisades and Reseda. As a sophomore, Barfield was a sprinter on the Cavaliers’ high-powered track team.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Barfield completed his first five passes and finished 10 of 15 for 206 yards and three touchdowns. Barfield also ran for a touchdown and led Cleveland to the winning score in a 36-35 victory over Reseda by passing to Khris Kiwanuku for a nine-yard touchdown, then running for the conversion.
