Vanguard Wins Conference Opener

Freshman Esaul Mendoza scored in the 68th minute off an assist from Matt Palmer to help Vanguard defeat Concordia, 1-0, in a Golden State Athletic Conference men’s soccer game Tuesday at Vanguard.
Goalkeeper Matt Resor had six saves for the Lions (4-3, 1-0 in conference). Ryan Hopkins had 13 saves for Concordia (2-8, 0-1).
