* Today, the National Assn. of Purchasing Management will issue its manufacturing index for March. It held at 41.9 in February. A reading below 50 suggests that manufacturing is contracting.
* Today, the Commerce Department will report on construction spending for February. It rose 1.5% in January.
* Tuesday, the Commerce Department will report on factory orders during February. They fell 3.8% in January.
* Friday, the Commerce Department will issue statistics on wholesale inventories during February. They fell 0.3% the month prior.
* Friday, the Federal Reserve will report on consumer borrowing through credit cards, auto loans and other personal loans in February.
