Amerra Kesterson
Calvary Chapel, Softball
Kesterson, Calvary Chapel’s leadoff hitter, batted .714 in four games last week. She was 10 for 14 at the plate, with one walk and a double. She also scored 10 runs, helping the Eagles to three victories. In Calvary
Chapel’s
only loss, a 6-5 defeat to Long Beach Wilson in the Northwood tournament on Saturday, she scored three runs. Kesterson, a sophomore left fielder, also had three stolen bases in four attempts.

Esperanza, Track and Field
She put the shot a county-best 40 feet 6 inches to win the Tustin Relays and 39-11 to finish third at Trabuco Hills.
* Erin Volcan
Canyon, Swimming
She posted the county’s fastest times in the 100 freestyle (51.95) and 100 backstroke (57.09) at the Foothill Games.
Michael Cavic
Tustin, Swimming
Cavic, a junior, won the 100-yard butterfly in 48.87 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 50.88 at the Foothill Swim Games. His time in the 100 butterfly eclipsed by almost one second the meet record set by Santa Marga-
rita’s Philippe Demers in 1998. His time is more than five seconds faster than any swimmer’s in the county this season. His time in the 100 backstroke was only .12 seconds off the meet record set by Olympian Aaron Peirsol.

Irvine, Track and Field
Set a meet record in the 400 meters in 48.23, erasing the four-year-old record (49.02) at the Trabuco Hills Invitational.
* John Mano
Los Alamitos, Tennis
Swept his sets at No. 2 singles as Los Alamitos upset Palos Verdes Peninsula, the No. 1 team in Division I.
