A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two suspects in the fatal shooting of an Anaheim pawnbroker during a robbery last month, authorities said Wednesday.
“Somebody out there knows something, and sometimes money motivates people to come forward,” said Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, which is investigating the crime. “This was a senseless murder, and these people need to be caught.”
Ronald J. Roach, 59, was shot March 24 during a robbery by two men at Katella Jewelry and Loan, a business he owned in the 9000 block of Katella Avenue. The robbers escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry, investigators said.
The two men’s images were caught by a video camera. One is described as in his late 20s, the other in his late teens or early 20s. Police say the older man was wearing a dark sport coat, white polo-type shirt buttoned to the top, tan slacks and ski mask and was carrying a rifle.
The younger man, investigators said, was wearing a dark-blue short-sleeve T-shirt, baggy blue jeans and pantyhose over his face and was carrying a semiautomatic handgun.
Amormino said the reward is being offered by the Collateral Loan and Secondhand Dealer’s Assn., an organization for pawnbrokers, and by Dale Roach, son of the slain pawnshop owner.
