An 80-year-old Littlerock man has been found competent to stand trial for allegedly beating to death his 71-year-old wife last summer with an ax handle.
Hollis Glenn Medford is to be arraigned Sept. 5 on one count of murder, Deputy Dist. Atty. Daviann Mitchell said.
Medford was ordered to Patton State Hospital in San Bernardino in July 2000 after a judge declared him mentally incompetent.
Deputy Public Defender Richard Guluzza warned that his client’s mental capacity could change again. “A defendant can fall into and out of incompetency,” he said.
