John Scher Resigns as Metropolitan CEO

Veteran concert promoter John Scher resigned from his post as chief executive and president of Metropolitan Entertainment Group amid a dispute over the future of the company. The move, which follows a lengthy boardroom dispute with Metropolitan’s controlling shareholder Covanta Energy Corp., opens the way for the firm to be sold. Metropolitan is one of the largest concert promoters in the northeastern United States and one of the few not acquired by industry giant Clear Channel Communications.
