There’s Nothing More Distracting Than Losing

Yesterday, USC honored its 1976 football team at its annual “Salute To Troy” season-kickoff party. That team’s coach, John Robinson, was not invited. A university source was quoted as saying that Robinson’s presence “would be a distraction.”
A distraction? To whom, exactly? Perhaps the gutless wonder who fired him by leaving a message on his answering machine--Athletic Director Mike Garrett?
President Sample, just how long are you going to allow this man to soil the reputation of what was once one of the premier athletic environments in the country? Mike Garrett’s ego has been the only champion at USC for years, and there are plenty of alumni who are not impressed.
