Whittier police shot and killed a Pico Rivera man early Saturday after he allegedly threatened his estranged wife with a knife.
Police said Adrian Medina, 30, had broken into his wife’s house in the 6000 block of Comstock Avenue. Officers responded about 7:15 a.m. after receiving a 911 call. When they arrived, they said, he was threatening his wife with a knife.
Fearing for the safety of the woman, police fired at Medina, striking him in the chest and shoulder.
He was taken to Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, where he died. His wife was treated for injuries suffered in an earlier struggle.
