Naming of Royal Baby May Break Tradition

In a break with tradition, Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito and his wife, Masako, may be allowed to name their newborn daughter.
Traditionally, the emperor picks a name from several choices proposed by scholars, then informs the crown prince and princess, who are excluded from the process.
Naruhito and Masako, however, have already made their picks informally after consulting with three court-appointed experts, the Yomiuri newspaper reported.
Palace officials said an announcement will be made after the baby is officially named Friday.
