2 Officers Injured as Car Hits Light Pole

Two Buena Park police officers were in fair condition Saturday at UCI Medical Center, where they were being treated for injuries suffered in a car accident Friday night.
Cpl. Dirk O’Dette, 36, and Officer Robert Updike, 37, were heading east on La Palma Avenue at Dale Avenue about 10:15 p.m., when a truck made a left turn in front of them, said Sgt. Jim Banks.
O’Dette, who was driving the marked police cruiser, swerved to avoid the truck and crashed into a light pole at the southeast corner of the intersection, Banks said.
Both officers suffered moderate injuries, he said.
Anaheim police are investigating at the request of Buena Park police, Banks said.
