MIAMI — The grandmother of a boy who has been in a coma since his arm got stuck in a drain at the bottom of a swimming pool last June will receive $7 million in a settlement.
Lorenzo Peterson was sucked into a loosened drain cover and trapped underwater for 10 minutes. He was pulled out after the pump was turned off. He suffered brain damage.
Eva Peterson, who is raising the 14-year-old boy, claimed the pool operators and the owners of the apartment complex where the accident took place improperly installed the drain.
