Former touring pro Bob Lutz, who coached the San Clemente boys’ tennis team to 11 victories and its first playoff berth in eight years, is leaving after one season.
Lutz, who won five Grand Slam doubles titles with Stan Smith, has taken a job as tennis director of the Indian Wells Garden tennis facility.
“He took a team that had one victory to the playoffs the next year,” San Clemente Athletic Director Jon Hamro said. “We were blessed to have him for one year.”
Hamro said he will take applications for Lutz’s old job until Jan. 22.
