Man Badly Injured in Fight Outside Bar

A 51-year-old man who allegedly wielded a pistol outside a bar was critically injured when a bouncer tried to disarm him, authorities said Monday.
James Leslie Martin of Costa Mesa had been refused service at Patsy’s Irish Pub because he appeared drunk, customers told sheriff’s detectives. Outside, Martin drew a gun on a customer who had offered to pay for a cab for him, authorities said. The customer’s boyfriend wrestled Martin for the gun and a bouncer joined the fray, striking Martin with a pool cue.
Martin was listed late Monday in extremely critical condition at a hospital.
