Nuclear Waste Storage

Re “Nuke Waste Storage Site Is ‘Dead,’ Daschle Says,” June 1: Now that Tom Daschle is the majority leader of the Senate, he has declared the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste storage site in Nevada to be a dead issue. Thankfully, the West is not going to be burdened with the nuclear refuse of the rest of the country. Being the responsible leader that he is, I’m sure Daschle has a site lined up in South Dakota for all the waste that would have been stored in Yucca Mountain. South Dakota certainly has the open space, and I’m sure they, like all other pork-barrel sites, can use the business.
