Gov. Davis All Fired Up

Re “Gov. Davis Feisty About Gaining Leverage Over the ‘Cowboys,’ ” June 11: I find this interesting. When Edison requests electric rate relief and the opportunity to engage in long-term energy contracts, it is met with derision and demagoguery. When the state raises rates to provide relief to itself via the California Department of Water Resources and secures long-term energy contracts, it’s heaven on Earth. Still, Gov. Gray Davis blames the “cowboys” and uses the new word of the week--”leverage”--to convey his relevancy. Remember, armchair quarterbacking happens on Monday. Elections, generally, occur on Tuesday. For the informed voter, I call that real leverage!
