No. 1 Corona del Mar Hands Troy Its First Loss

Corona del Mar, the county’s top-ranked boys’ tennis team, gave No. 3 Troy its first loss of the season, 12-6, in a nonleague match Friday at Troy.
Peter Kulmaticki and Michael Bean, playing No. 3 doubles, swept, 6-2, 6-1, 6-2, and are 33-2 this season for the Sea Kings (12-0).
In nonleague softball:
Fountain Valley 1, Capistrano Valley 0--Kristin Crowder had an RBI single in the first inning and Jackie Brown pitched a three-hitter for Fountain Valley (10-5).
Trabuco Hills 6, Santa Margarita 4--Danielle Carver hit a one-out grand slam in a six-run second inning for host Trabuco Hills (7-5).
Troy 4, Brea Olinda 1--Nikki Shepard had two hits, two stolen bases and two runs for host Troy (9-3).
In Sea View League boys’ volleyball:
No. 5 Irvine 3, Aliso Niguel 0--Kris Kraushaar had 15 kills for visiting Irvine (7-1, 2-0), which won, 15-11, 15-4, 15-7.
In the South Coast League:
No. 9 Dana Hills 3, Trabuco Hills 1--Travis Nelson recorded 15 kills and Craig Heller had 12 for the Dolphins (6-1, 2-0), who won, 15-5, 15-4, 10-15, 15-9. Tyler Whalen had 10 kills for Trabuco Hills (2-4, 0-2).
In the Sunset League:
No. 8 Marina 3, Esperanza 0--Layton Bowles had 12 kills and five blocks as Marina (9-1, 2-0) won, 15-4, 15-2, 15-2. Esperanza is 0-2 in league.
