Prosecutors charged an Alhambra man Tuesday with setting a series of fires in trash bins behind businesses in the Alhambra and San Gabriel area.
Abdul Kareem Aljuboori, 41, was arrested Sunday after he was caught on videotape setting fires behind an Alhambra Burger King, the district attorney’s office said.
The arrest came after he reported the fire. He is charged with seven counts of arson stemming from the blazes and four other arson fires set since early February. San Gabriel police had arrested Aljuboori on April 26 on suspicion of arson but prosecutors said there was insufficient evidence to charge him with the crime.
Authorities say he watched firefighters tackle the earlier blazes. He is being held in lieu of $350,000 bail, pending arraignment June 7.
