In other Division II games:
Canyon 2, Corona 0--Lisa Geer struck out 12 and pitched a three-hitter for visiting Canyon (25-7-1). Carrissa Stump reached base four times on two hits and two walks, and scored the first run in the third inning on a fielder’s choice by Erin Slettvet. Britany Crine’s single in the fifth drove in Ashley Becker.
Foothill 5, Indio 0--Courtney Fossatti pitched a one-hitter and struck out 11, and Kristen Mann and Erin Mobley each had two hits for the top-seeded Knights (30-2), who will next host Loara. The only hit off Fossatti, who struck out seven consecutive at one point, came on a runner’s interference.
Loara 1, Glendora 0--Kim Flores led off the game with a walk and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Alicia Owen, leading the Saxons into the quarterfinals for the first time in school history. Katie Joosten (17-5) threw a one-hitter for Loara (23-9).
In Division I:
Capistrano Valley 1, Etiwanda 0--Brooke Weekley struck out three and pitched a one-hitter for the Cougars, who advanced to play Lakewood. Capistrano Valley (22-7-1) got its run in the second inning when Allie Russi walked and scored on Lauren Evans’ single.
Esperanza 6, Fontana Miller 0--Diana Eberlein knocked in three runs with a single in the second inning, and Danielle Ackland hit a two-run home run in the third for Esperanza (22-5-1), which had its sixth consecutive shutout. Pitcher Kristen Dedmon struck out nine for the Aztecs.
